Whenever you start to think about getting support in order to grow your business, there are usually three options that will come onto your radar: 1–2–1 coaching, group programmes and masterminds. They all can work, but they fit different types of personalities and budgets, at different stages in your business journey.
1:1 coaching – suitable for individualised attention
What it is: One-on-one work with a coach designed around your goals, issues and decisions.
Best for you if:
You need more personalised advice
Sensitivity - Money, team issues, confidence
If you are short on time and just want to cut through, this is the quicker path
You need accountability that zaps you over the head.
What to look out for: The cost – often the most expensive way, and needs you to do things between sessions.
Group programmes – these are the best for a structured programme and cost-effectiveness
What it is: A cohort programme that you go through together with other people, usually has weekly calls and training/worksheets.
Best for you if:
You prefer a relatively clear, sequential framework
Laying the groundwork (pricing, offers, marketing and sales systems)
You need support, but a 1:1 is too expensive
You learn by eavesdropping on questions.
Watch-outs: You may not always receive insightful, personalised feedback. If your business is special, you might require some additional help. For more details on Evesham Business Coaching, contact randall-payne.co.uk/services/business-advisory/business-coaching/evesham/
Masterminds: For peer support and bigger thinking
What it is: A select group of company owners who meet regularly, sometimes with a professional facilitator. It is a webinar, not just training, with discussions and problem-solving elements woven throughout to keep your team accountable.
Best for you if:
You’re on your way and ready to make a change
You love peer review from people who know about the industry
You are looking for connections, collaboration and different views
You are at your best when pushed (in a kind way).
Watch-outs: If it’s a bad match with the mastermind, it can feel more like attending a chat group than a useful growth tool.
Which one to select
Ask yourself:
Is it a plan that is required or a personal choice? (Group vs 1:1)
To learn or to peer review? (Programme vs mastermind)
How much will this cost me – either in cash or time?
Choose 1:1 if you want quick, personalised results. For structure and value, group programmes excel. If you need top-level support and extraordinary peer accountability, a mastermind might be the way to go.
