Kanagawa Institute of Technology Workshop, Tokyo
This interesting structure is one of the most transparent constructions in the world today. It is located on the campus of Kanagawa Institute of Technology and was designed by Junya Ishigami and Associates. The building is essentially a single room of about 2000 square meters in size. It is made of only glass panels and white steel columns of varying size and shape. The whole design emanates a sense of forests rather than a building.

The Botanical Garden of Curitiba
This construction was inspired by the mid-19th century Crystal Palace of London and was opened in 1991. It can be found in the centre of Curitiba and is one of the major tourist attractions in the city. The greenhouse forms the central focus of the garden, where various species of plants are grown. An art nouveau building covers 450 square meters in area and the greenhouse is an elegant construction made of glass and metal, surrounded by waterfalls and fountains.

The Farnsworth House, Plano
This is the oldest glass construction on this list and the house was designed by architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. It is located along the Fox River near the city of Plano, Illinois and the overriding feature of the building is its transparency which brings the inmates closer to nature. Completed in 1951, it is a one room building designed for Dr. Edith Farnsworth as a rural retreat. It was designated as a National Historic Landmark in 2006 and is currently a museum.

The W Hotel, which is located on the coastline of Barcelona, is a perfect example of the advancement of modern architecture. The building was designed by Ricardo Bofill and completed in 2009. The hotel is designed to be a replica of a boat sail, which earned it the nickname Hotel Vela (Sail Hotel), and provides the guests a spectacular view of the Mediterranean Sea from behind the glass walls.

Headquarters of Basque Health Department, Bilbao
